National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Compliance Assessments

NEPA compliance is required for federally permitted or federally funded projects, such as linear transportation, park development, and waterline projects. Our knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulatory compliance issues are key factors in assisting clients with successfully meeting project goals. Every project that requires a federal permit or action must comply with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). The determining factors for the level of evaluation for Categorical Exclusion (CE), Environmental Assessment (EA), or Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) are evaluated with the reviewing agency during scoping. We first perform a desktop evaluation of potential project constraints including the following investigations: natural resource assessments addressing waters of the U.S., geology, hydrology, climate, and floodplains; biological resource assessments for vegetation, aquatics, wetlands, wildlife, and threatened and endangered (T&E) species; hazardous materials assessments; water quality assessments; traffic noise and air quality analyses; socioeconomic and environmental justice (EJ) evaluations; land use analyses; indirect and cumulative impacts (ICI) analyses; and, management of cultural (historic and archeological) resources investigations.
